Three Homemade Spring Crafts

Three Homemade Spring Crafts

We are nearly halfway through spring! Trees are starting to bud, and many flowers have already blossomed. Here are some fun craft ideas you can do with your children to help them get ready to help you garden!

1. Pompom flower craft

Materials:

  • A photo of your child

  • Different colour pompoms
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Child safety scissors

Instructions:

Have your child cut out a flower shape with their safety scissors and a picture of themselves. Next have them glue their picture in the center of the flower and start gluing all the pompoms around the picture. Lastly, glue a popsicle stick at the back of the flower with a couple of pompoms for the leaves and there you have it!

2. Fingerprint Butterfly Mug Painting

Materials:

  • White mug
  • Enamel acrylic paint
  • Small paint brush
  • Mod Podge dishwasher safe sealer

Instructions:

Paint your child’s thumb with which ever color paint they choose. Repeat with a different color for the body of the butterfly. Don’t forget to add the antennas on your butterfly. Once your child has placed all the butterflies they desire, let paint stand and dry. Once they are dry, add the protective layer of Mod Podge to seal everything in.

3. Tin Can Planters

Materials:

  • Tin can cleaned out
  • Acrylic paint
  • Letter stickers (optional)
  • Mod Podge (optional)
  • Soil
  • Plant
  • Dirt
  • Sharpie (optional)
  • Drill (Adult use only)

Instructions:

Have an adult drill a hole in the bottom of the can for proper drainage. Have the child paint the can a color of their choice. Once the paint has dried, place on the stickers with a saying or have the child print a saying with different color paint or a sharpie. Then add dirt into the can and plant mom’s favourite plant!

Children love to make crafts and parents love receiving homemade items from their children. I hope you enjoy helping your children create something wonderful!
