Joshua Creek

The ORIGINAL Little Kids Daycare Centre, on Grosvenor Street opened on September 3, 2002 & it honestly feels like yesterday. Our centre has grown and changed so much over the many years. The commitment of our centre and team remains the same, we strive to provide quality childcare to each little person who comes through our doors. In 2015 we changed things around and incorporated an infant class into our program. We provide care to children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

We are honoured by the various awards & recognitions we have received from the community. We are Members in good standing with Quality First & the Association of Daycare Operators. Giving Back is very important to us, we are always donating to various children’s sports programs, hospitals & most recently we committed donating a portion of our registration fees to Halton Food For Thought.

Our Team of Educators

Did you know that in 2007 the Ontario Government passed the Early Childhood Educators Act? This law established the College of Early Childhood Educators. The Act includes definitions of practice, requirements for members to practise, Title Protection for use of the terms such as “Early Childhood Educators” as well as roles of the Registrar, Registration Appeals, Complaints, Discipline etc. Learn more about the qualifications of Early Childhood Educators at www.college-ece.ca We work to match candidates with their ideal age grouping and team partners. Once hired they are required to participate in regular professional learning. 30% of our staff attend a training every two months. Every Little Kids Daycare employee has a valid First Aid/CPR certificate, clear vulnerable sector check and safe Food Handler Certification. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful team! Staff consistency is REALLY

DIFFICULT in childcare! We want to devote some time to highlight & praise our Senior Staff (over 1 year)

Our Team

Nina S.

RECE, Supervisor

Joined Little Kids Grosvenor Family in 2013 All of our children, families & staff adore Nina. With good reason, she is loving, kind and supportive. As a Supervisor, she is the Mother Hen to the young women we employ. She is a bright, strong & mature Supervisor who is incredibly professional and organized. Nina lives in Oakville with her Husband, Donnie and son, Alexander (he’s a Little Kids Alum!). Nina also has two adult children (Andrew & Anthony) We are blessed to have her part of the Little Kids Family.

Jasmina

OCT, RECE, Toddler Teacher

Joined Little Kids Grosvenor Family in 2008 Jasmina is a kind and nurturing Educator. Over the years we get consistent praise from parents about her attentiveness towards their child. Especially the new ones who are having a hard time, it’s nice to know that she will pick them up for a snuggle to help them settle. Jasmina lives in Oakville with her Husband & Son Martin. We are thrilled that she has went back to school to get her ECE Diploma!

Dawn

RECE, Infant Class

Joined Little Kids Grosvenor Family in 2014 Dawn graduated from Sheridan College in 2011. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her over the past few years. Dawn actually started at the Kingsridge Location in 2014 but the Grosvenor location was closer to home for her. She is very nurturing with her infant children & they love her right back! It’s very hard for parents to leave their precious little babies, Dawn definitely helps ease this transition. Dawn is currently on maternity leave!

Stephanie

RECE, Preschool Class

Joined Little Kids Grosvenor Family in 2012 Stephanie began her journey at Little Kids Daycare as a placement student. She was a great student & we were lucky to have her join our team. Her career has offered many opportunities but she always finds her way back to us. She is creative and has become an essential part of our transition to an Emergent Curriculum.

Grace

Assistant, Toddler Class

Joined Little Kids Grosvenor Family in 2010 Check out our Google Reviews, many of them about Grace! That should say it all. Parents just LOVE GRACE!! So do the kids. Who can blame them, she is so loving and caring. She builds such a beautiful relationship with each child and family. Grace lives in Oakville with her family. She recently became a Grandmother! “Glam-ma” is more like it.

Quality Childcare

We are ALWAYS participating in numerous Quality Initiatives & Programs to provide the BEST Childcare to the Oakville Community.

First & foremost, we are proud to have an agreement with The Region of Halton. We are proud to be an inclusive childcare center which offers childcare subsidy to families who qualify.

Quality First for Children, Families, Professionals & Community

Little Kids Daycare is proud to participate in the Quality First. Quality First is an initiative within Halton Region that supports early childhood programs to further develop the level of quality care, and education they offer to young children & their families.

Quality First is based on the following indicators of quality childcare.

· Environment/Curriculum

· Supervision/Administration

· Professionalism

· Inclusion

· Adult/Child Interaction

· Support for early Childhood Education Students

Quality First is a program offered to us through The Halton Resource Connection

As a result of our involvement in Quality First, our staff participate in various trainings/workshops & webinars every few months!

Our center is supported through an ongoing process which includes: observations & evaluation fo the program, self evaluation, goal setting, staff professional learning & support from a Consultant. Commitment to quality is an ongoing process.

Quality Map Pilot

Across Halton Region only 18 centers were invited to participate in this initiative. We were thrilled to join this important research! This new approach to assessing quality in Halton Region’s ELCC sector will have a qualitative approach to assessing quality. It aligns with “How Does Learning Happen?” & he RECE Code of Ethics. It is built on critical reflection, collaborative inquiry , environment & making quality practices visible (pedagogical documentation).

We have created a Center Portfolio which each class has contributed to the four sections (Children, Families, Educators & Community)
