History
Little Kids Daycare started in 2002, and has grown into an award-winning licensed childcare center with multiple locations. Owner, Debbie, has a diverse background in working with children and families.
Debbie first began as an assistant in the Preschool Classroom. After a year, she returned to school (while still working at the Center) to complete an Early Childhood Education diploma. After graduation, Debbie worked with all the age groups (infants, toddlers, preschool, and school age). Since then, she has gotten her hands dirty, helping with all the elements that are involved in setting up a licensed childcare setting.
This experience has allowed her to implement an enriching curriculum and foster a nurturing environment. Debbie has become a mentor within her community, while also facilitating and speaking at conferences.
She has found it incredibly rewarding to help others launch their own childcare centers. Working in childcare allowed Debbie to balance her children and career. Since the first center opened, Debbie has opened locations in Waterdown, Vaughan, Burlington, Milton, and a second location in Oakville.
She wants to continue to share this knowledge with others, to help others build something that is their own
Mission
Our philosophies of care focus on the whole child.
We believe the early years of life build a framework for lifelong learning. We believe in the dignity and value of all children. Social and intellectual skills are best learned in an environment where self-esteem is nurtured and respect is absolute. Children learn best through active exploration, experimentation and problem solving in a safe and stimulating environment.
In keeping with this philosophy, Little Kids Daycare Center provides programs that help children develop a love for learning, independence, self-control and the ability to interact positively with others. We recognize that each child is unique and we provide a comfortable, safe and nurturing environment where children will be stimulated to develop social, physical, emotional and intellectual skills. Our programs focus on developing well-rounded, secure and self-confident children, while having fun and making new friends.
We realize that parents are the most important adults in a child’s life so we do everything possible to involve you in our programs.
5 Pillars of Success – Child
Curriculum
At Little Kids we will provide curriculum that is age appropriate, enjoyable, and challenging for your child. Each age group and classroom will have individual centres that allow your child to experience the many aspects of development. Centres within each classroom may include an area for blocks, a house or dramatic play corner, an area for table toys, an art centre, sand and water centre, a library/reading area, and a music area. The dramatic play centre equipment for each room will be rotated monthly, so children have time to enjoy the sense of make believe under different settings. Programs and concepts will be posted outside each classroom for you to see in weekly intervals and are based on the interests of the children. If any parent has input or suggestions for concepts or activities, they are more than welcome to offer them to the centre.
Health
We believe food is an incredibly important part of a child’s day. That’s why we’ve decided to prepare our hot meals onsite! They are healthy, delicious, child-friendly meals & snacks for children. We also believe in outdoor play as very important to the development of a child and encourage daily outdoor activities as part of our weekly programming.
Inclusion
Little Kids Daycare is an integrated center, which strives to promote opportunities to all children regardless of developmental delays and identified needs. Little Kids seeks to be an advocate and leader for inclusion in Early Childhood Education. Training will be sought out that encourages principles of inclusion. To meet the needs of each child and all persons involved at Little Kids, we will assess each child / situation on an individual basis to ensure that we can meet each child’s individual needs.
Love
We are a family focused center. Every child deserves to be loved and nurtured by everyone around them, especially within a childcare setting. We proud ourselves in carefully screening our staff so that they attend to each child and family with the same genuine compassion and love to nurture the child’s development that they would for their own families.
